5 Exclusive Qualities that organizations are looking for in a Candidate!

In today’s job market, where there is a lot of fight to win, it’s toilsome to grab the employer’s attention. Recruiters, leave no stone unturned to find the best candidate. So, we need to understand what actually, organizations are looking for in a candidate. There is a lot more to talk about than just your qualifications and how well you fit in with the job requirements.

Here are some of the key skills that recruiters are seeking:

  1. Zeal for work: Recruiters would prefer someone who is passionate about their work over someone whose skills match the job requirements but lacks passion and is unwilling to learn more. It is believed that almost all jobs can be taught, but such a skill comes from within and can’t be generated or taught.
  2. Trustworthiness or commitment: Organisations don’t devote time to hire and train employees just to have a high employee turnover. Rather, they want to invest in candidates that intend to stay with them for a longer period of time. This not only helps organizations attain their goals but also helps an employee with better promotion, better opportunities in the future, better financial growth, and also makes that employee much more trustworthy.
  3. Good Communication: Nat Turner rightly said, “Good communication is the bridge between confusion and clarity.” The ability to express your thoughts (verbally or in writing) effortlessly is a boon. The candidate is expected to be well-versed in communication skills. This not only helps them to clear up the confusion, but it also helps the candidate build stronger bonds with the team and clients. Good communication plays a great role in staying in touch with the recruiters, even if you don’t get selected. Recruiters tend to give consideration and a chance to previously interviewed candidates with good communication skills, in case they have another opening.
  4. Emotional Quotient: It is seen that employees with high EQ levels stay motivated and keep the team spirit high. They tend to be better managers than the ones with low EQ levels. Such people are always energetic and keep the work environment zealous, and they always strive to learn new things that will help them grow professionally as well as personally. Such employees are better at cracking good deals for the organization, as they always gain the consideration of the clients with their personality and character. The environment or atmosphere of the team is always built by its employees; hence, recruiters tend to count on candidates with high EQ levels.
  5. Feedback: People usually presume that years of experience are the only concern for organizations, which is not true. Recruiters pay close attention to feedback from a candidate’s previous or current employers. They would choose candidates with less experience or an employment gap with constructive and positive feedback over candidates with many more years of experience but with negative feedback. Therefore, having a good track record in terms of – performance, work ethics and behavior is a must have.

By showcasing these skills and qualities, candidates can give a good account of themselves to the recruiters and this is what actually, organizations are looking for in a candidate.
